As a first-generation daughter to enter university, let alone a prestigious business school, Vasiliki has encountered various successes in extracurriculars, business competitions and start-ups. However, her main focus today is how she can leave a legacy and inspire the next generation.

Humble beginnings of work.

​

I was born and raised in Toronto, Canada by two Greek immigrant parents who never went to high school or post-secondary institutions. They had limited knowledge on Canada and did not even speak the English language, but they left their home country in hopes of building a new world of opportunities for their children.

 

Since I was eleven, I helped my parents as self-employed office cleaners. This is a job they have done with pride for over 40 years, and a job I did for six. We are not an affluent family, but my father and mother have always had a priceless attitude towards their corporate life, which instilled characteristics in me that I have only grown to value due to their hard work.

As I faced entrepreneurial hardships, they reminded me about resiliency, determination and not giving up.

 

Despite the economic hardships, they were always the first to sacrifice for my businesses and ideas.

 

Without their mentorship and countless others’ support, I would have never made it this far.

This is why I founded Beauty in a Blazer - a home for ambitious women in the workforce that nurtures a supportive, inspiring and empowering community for women.
